MakeUp Tips – My Blush, Lipstick, Lip Gloss, and Eye Shadow Picks |

by Monica Camel I was recently out for lunch with a girlfriend when the conversation turned to make up. We have about the same skin tone and hair color (a lot of people think we’re sisters) so we end up wearing very similar shades and styles of make up. We were at an expensive Japanese Restaurant in the Village; she only wanted to order small inexpensive dishes and she makes less than I do so I assumed she would spend less on make up than I do, but when we compared the types of make up we use I was shocked. Almost everything she uses on a daily basis is more expensive than the make up brands I usually go with. That’s when I realized she along with probably lots of you out there could use some ultra hip professional make up tips. Here is a list of the crucial make-ups that we compared and where you can find great values and still get the professional make up look you are going for. BlushBlush is one of those little things that has to be in your bag before you step out. I can’t be out in public if I don’t have my two favorite shades of FLIRT! tint with me. I’m constantly finding myself needing to reapply quickly to get maximum and efficient color. I use: FLIRT!, Big Deal Lip & Cheek Tint either “Hoola Hoop” or “Tini Bikini”. It goes on effortlessly and doesn’t leave me feeling greasy. Also, because you can apply it on your lips, eyes, and cheeks, you can use it as a top layer to create a cohesive palette of shades or as your general quick tint if you’re in a rush. Cost: $10 She Uses: Givenchy, Compact Prisme Again. A great selection of blush
colors but a little limiting on use and it takes to much time to apply
when you’re in a hurry, which is where I always find myself! Cost:
$30 |

Lip Gloss - LipstickI mean Really! Can you expect a reasonable woman to spend a day without her favorite lip-gloss or lipstick? Not this Girl! I use: Mark by Avon Glow Baby Glow in Sweet Talk and Pink Crush. This Gloss just makes me feel adored. I use sweet talk at work and pink crush on the weekends – and my boyfriend loves it. Cost $5 She Uses: Lancôme Juicy Wear. Sure they have a nice selection
of colors and the patented “Juicy Seal technology”, but
I’m going to have to reapply my lipstick anyway after my second
martini so why even try. Cost $25 |

Eye ShadowOK, the one thing we can agree on is expensive, gorgeous eye shadow. I can’t abide by the cheap stuff; it mushes around and cakes up. I need something to give my eyes the perfect highlight to I splurge on eye shadows. I know that foundation and coordination are keys to my perfect make up look, but I am a firm believer in accenting the positive, and eyes are always positive. It’s no wonder “I” and “Eye” have the same root. So here’s my “Eye, Eye!” Our Pick: Chanel – Fluid Iridescent Eye shadow in Fountain, Bayou, and Source. We both use all three colors all the time. It is a wet/dry formula so you can have either a darker distinct look by letting it dry without hand smoothing, or apply and then feather it with a finger tip to create a beautiful fade and shimmering sunlight effect. Cost: $30 I hope you find these makeup tips useful, and effective. BTW - Makeup Foundation and Styling are also very important topics I hope to share with you soon. Until next time on Monica’s Runway! Kisses |
