to the Submission Form Welcome to the GetBeautyTips Beauty Publishing Contest, this is your chance to try your hand at writing, share your story or opinion and maybe launch your own writing career. We will publish up to 5 articles in each of the three categories below, although we may not publish five in each, it's all up to the quality of your writing. The prize for winning the contest is getting your article published at GetBeautyTips.com. (No one will be paid for articles submitted to this contest.) April at GetBeautyTips.com will be all about dieting and we are looking for your stories and expertise to shine through. We are looking for dieting articles from three perspectives: 1. Personal Story – This type of writing explores your personal struggles and successes with dieting, giving the rest of us the knowledge that we are not alone and a hope for future success. These articles may be written in first person. 2. Journalistic - Journalism is all about information. These articles should be written in the third person and include statements of fact, quotes from dieters, dieticians, health counselors, diet companies, etc and a neutral analysis of the topic. 3. Editorial - This is where you can really let loose, the editorial is a place for you to express your opinion openly and try to convince others that you are correct (think of it as being on the debate team). Much more stylistic and emotional leeway is given in the editorial category. Editorials may be written in either first or third person. What to Write About:If you have recently been or are currently dieting, simply tell your story about what you are experiencing while dieting. Suggested Topics: How to Write ProfessionallyStyle and Structure:Be sure to write articles (of any type) with the same basic structure: First Few Paragraphs – introduction of topic and main ideas or themes you will discuss. This first section can generally be between 1-3 paragraphs depending on how much information you want to present and how complex a topic it is. Middle Paragraphs – move through your article in a logical pattern giving in-depth explanation of the topics, ideas, and themes you introduced in the opening section. Final 1-3 Paragraphs – sum up your main points and leave your reader feeling like the article or story is tied up and finished. Content:The content you submit must follow these rules: 1. It must be an original work produced by you for which you have copyright and publishing rights. 2. The content must not be profane, sexual, or violent. 3. The content must not contain slander or libel. (This basically means that you can’t say something you know is false or misleading in order to denigrate another’s character.) |
